Captain Ahab's Tragically Great Bar Soaps!
We are excited to finally launch our new line of Captain Ahab’s “tragically great” bar soaps! We’ve been selling these at local farmer’s markets and have been getting really good feedback. A lot of times, handmade soaps are like works of art with swirls and glitter and special cuts. That is cool and has its place but we kind of wanted to buck that trend and make a simple bar of soap that is quality and just works. Though maybe we skimped some on presentation, we did not skimp on ingredients. Check out our ingredient list for each soap and you will see we stacked each bar full of skin healthy ingredients.
Here are a few of the key ingredients and why they are awesome:
- Sorbitol & Glycerin – Both of these are very similar and are naturally occurring, often found in fruits. They act as humectant moisturizers. This means they prevent moisture loss by pulling water by osmosis from the air. Glycerin also helps treat oily skin conditions like acne.
- Goat’s Milk, Honey, and Oatmeal – These items are all documented pretty well on the internet on their skin benefits. Goat’s milk contains lots of vitamins and glycerin. Honey is another humectant that helps keep moisture locked in the skin. Lastly, oatmeal relieves skin irritation and itching while exfoliating the skin naturally.
- Botanicals – Irish moss is known to have antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, and anticoagulant properties along with being able to rehydrate skin. Marshmallow root has cooling and moisturizing properties that helps dry, brittle, damaged skin and hair. Aloe contains antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins A and C, and is highly anti-inflammatory.
That just barely touches the great ingredients we included in our soaps. There are plenty others that are awesome and beneficial for skin healing.
Personally, I suffer from dry skin and normal store bought soaps tend to dry me out even more. I usually have to buy some kind of special hydrating soap to help combat that. I have been using our Captain Ahab’s soap for about 3 months now and I have not had the dry skin issues that I had before.
Let us know in the comments below, which one you are looking forward to trying the most! Also, I had a lot of fun writing the scent descriptions so let me know which one of those is your favorite too!
